SENNY CAMARA
Vocals, Kora
Born in Dakar, the artist Senny Camara grew up in Tataguine, in the south of Senegal, next to a grandmother who educated her according to the purest animist traditions of the Serer people. A family situation that immersed her very early in the deep musical roots of her country, in particular with the songs of the ndeup, a mystical rite practiced by the Lébou community living in Senegal. Currently based in Paris, Senny Camara is one of the rare female kora players in the world, an instrument traditionally reserved for men. She is currently on tour to present her album “Boolo” and is in the studio to finish her new album, due out at the end of the year.
