Breathing تنفُّس is the debut album from renown leading singer Amal Murkus and multi-awarded composer pianist Alessandro Sgobbio. Amal’s vocal melody meets the cinematic atmospheres created by Alessandro’s evoking piano sound and live electronics. This unique duo started its collaboration with a sold-out concert at Teatro Piccinni in Bari (Italy) in 2024, then met again in 2025 for a recording session at the wonderful Artesuono Studios in Udine. The repertoire includes a Palestinian women’s traditional (Khodoni), two Amal’s originals (Risalatohu, La Ahada), one Alessandro’s composition (Bah’ri), a new rendition of Enzo Avitabile’s Canta as well as two timeless songs: Abdel Halim Hafez’s Ahwak (featuring kanunist Firas Zreik) and Syrian folk song Ya Mayela.

Bah’ri is the second single from Amal Murkus امل مرقس and Alessandro Sgobbio’s upcoming duo album, to be released in February 2026. In بَح ْ رِي Bah’ri Amal’s vocal melody meets the cinematic atmospheres created by Alessandro’s evoking piano
sound and live electronics. The song takes inspiration from Amal and Alessandro’s strong connection with the sea (in particular the Mediterranean Sea, near where they both grew up) and also the splendid Italian city of Bari, where the two artists have performed together a sold-out concert at the ancient Teatro Piccinni.
